Montessori Infant Program

At Educate Me Montessori, our Infant Program is set in a home-like environment where your child is safe to learn, discover, and explore under the careful guidance of trained Montessori educators. The classroom setting is peaceful and inviting with soft rugs, child-sized furniture, developmentally appropriate activities, and low open shelves. Everything is clean, organised, and uncluttered to provide infants with the optimal learning environment.

Learning activities are easily accessible and designed to encourage concentration, problem-solving, and fine motor skills. Children select the activities that interest them and work with them at their own pace. Based on daily observations, Educators introduce new materials and activities that pique children’s curiosity and stimulate learning.

Throughout the day, our infant community follows a flexible daily routine that accommodates children’s individual needs, preferences, and interests. Children participate in the Montessori Work Cycle, free play, music and movement, outdoor play, group time, and planned learning experiences.

Our infant classroom accommodates a maximum of 12 children aged six weeks to two years. Healthy nutritionally balanced meals, nappies, wipes, and bedsheets are included in the daily fee of $133 before the Child Care Subsidy. Families receive daily updates about their children’s learning, eating, and sleeping patterns through our parent communication app.

What Will My Child Learn?

Infant Development

During the first two years of life, your child’s brain is absorbing tremendous amounts of information through observation and experiences in their environment. The learning that occurs during their crucial stage of development lays the foundation for future learning. The stronger the foundation, the more your child will be able to build upon it.

Infant Environment

The infant learning environment is a supportive learning space that is full of developmentally appropriate learning materials, tools, utensils, and furniture. Children are safe to explore and develop at their own pace. Independence, respect, accessibility, and freedom of movement are crucial components of the infant environment.

Infant Curriculum

The Montessori Infant Curriculum emerges from each child’s interests and skills as well as the routines of daily life. Learning activities promote independence, coordination, communication skills, sensory perception, concentration, problem-solving skills, and complete physical, social, emotional and cognitive development.

Montessori & EYLF Curriculum

Practical Life

Practical Life activities such as threading, spooning and pouring, help children to develop independence and self-help skills that prepare them for life. These activities also develop children’s fine motor skills, concentration, coordination, and confidence.

Sensorial

Sensorial materials such as the colour box and smelling jars provide children with opportunities to refine their senses of sight, touch, sound, smell, and taste. Developing sensorial skills allows children to better understand, clarify, and classify their experiences.

Mathematics

The Mathematics Curriculum introduces children to abstract mathematics concepts through hands-on experiences. Materials such as the number rods and spindle box prepare children for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and fractions.

Language

The Language Curriculum encourages the development of early literacy skills. Children learn phonics, letters identification and formation, writing, reading, and oral language skills by working with Montessori materials such as the moveable alphabet and sound boxes.

Art & Culture

The Art and Culture area incorporates the study of Geography, Music, History, Botany, Science, Diversity, Sustainability and the Environment, as well as so much more. Through the study of Art and Culture children develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of their world.

EYLF

The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) is the National Curriculum for Early Childhood Education. It is designed to support children’s sense of being, belonging, and becoming. The EYLF focuses on play-based learning strategies that are linked to key learning outcomes.
