STARTING CHILDCARE

YOUR CHILD'S FIRST DAY

Starting childcare at Educate Me Montessori is an exciting new experience; however, it is common for children and their families to feel uncertain.

Every child is different and takes a different period of time to settle in. Some children come bounding in on their first day, while others may need some extra support.

We encourage families to follow the below tips to make your child’s transition to care as smooth as possible.

Our team is here to support you and your child throughout the transition process as we begin this exciting journey together.

PREPARING FOR THE FIRST DAY

  • Attend a tour and orientation session with your child to help them become familiar with their new learning environment and carers.
  • Invite older toddler and preschool children to help pack their bag, drink bottle, and choose their clothes and shoes for their first day.
  • Read stories about starting school or childcare. Talk about the different feelings your child may experience and what they can do if they feel nervous or upset.
  • Focus on the positive things your child will experience such as the new friends they will make and the exciting new activities and equipment they will have access to.
  • Provide the ‘All About Me’ form to your child’s Room Leader to ensure they are familiar with your children’s routine and preferences.
  • Keep goodbyes short and leave confidently to reassure your child they are in good hands. If you wish to stay for a while, please head to Reception.
  • Please reach out to our Centre Director if you would like any additional support or to simply have a chat.
